photoDUELL
photoDUELL brings two photographic perspectives into direct dialogue. Contrasting visual languages, themes, or approaches come face to face, inviting the audience to discover differences, similarities, and points of tension. The format creates space for exchange, reflection, and discussion—here, photography becomes a vibrant duel of perspectives.
In this edition of photoDUELL, Joel Basman takes on a special role, bringing his many years of experience as an actor into the dialogue with artists Melda Karaali and Catrin Isabell Bautista Casilla. Well-known from film and theater, Basman tells the story in his solo performance of Sonja, a woman struggling with addiction, whose life story he embodies. His presence lends the format new depth, added tension, and a fascinating perspective on the interplay between photography and performance.
