Nutrient Concentration - Rahel Zuber
In collaboration with WWF Switzerland
The “Nutrient Concentration” series by Zurich-based photographer Rahel Zuber, presented by WWF Switzerland, depicts agricultural sites in Switzerland. The 30-year-old photo editor at the *Tages-Anzeiger* employed a unique technique: Before developing the analog film, she soaked it in various plant protection products available at specialty stores. The visible traces powerfully reveal what normally remains invisible in our environment.
Rahel’s artistic work symbolically addresses a real environmental problem. Pesticides and chemicals such as PFAS, which pollute our waterways, are used regularly and frequently in Swiss agriculture. These substances harm nature and our health. Moreover, many of these active ingredients leave dangerous traces in the ecosystem.
The special exhibition “Nutrient Concentration” by Rahel Zuber—herself a member of the LUNAX collective—brings art and science closer together and invites visitors to take a closer look: How does the way we produce food affect the quality of our water? Are we doing enough to protect ourselves and our natural environment for future generations?
The WWF is actively committed to a healthy natural environment—and thus to a healthy life for all of us. To this end, policymakers, the agricultural sector, the business community, and society as a whole should work together to find solutions and reduce the use of toxic substances.
