photoKIDS

We’ve always been kid-friendly. Because photoSCHWEIZ aims to inspire—young and old, and everyone in between. Because photoSCHWEIZ is alive, pulsating, and vibrant—and not some silent museum.
But now the kids are finally getting their own show:
photoKIDS.
With exciting talks and workshops. With a variety of guided tours. And with an adventurous photoSAFARI (including a hands-on activity booklet) through the entire exhibition. But first, we need your help—or rather, your kids’ help.
We want to showcase lots of “SMILING FACES” at photoSCHWEIZ. And since that’s just so much more fun in the form of a photo contest, Gelateria di Berna has offered up a fantastic prize: a year’s worth of free ice cream for the funniest photo. But hey, photoKIDS: ALL the photos you send us will be printed and displayed at photoSCHWEIZ 2026. You’ll be exhibitors—we promise.
Are you in?
Then hurry up—the registration deadline is January 25.
We can't wait to see your photos!!

We want to see the world smile!! Are you between 5 and 17 years old and do you love gelato? Then enter our photo contest and send us your favorite photo on the theme “SMILING FACES” by January 25, 2026. Of course, it can just be one face—your mom’s or dad’s, your grandma’s or grandpa’s, or even a sibling’s or friend’s.
Show us that photoKIDS simply have more fun than adults. All submitted photos will be featured in a special exhibition at photoSCHWEIZ 2026—presented in a creative way. photoSCHWEIZ will handle the production of the images—at no cost to you. And yes, that’s right: our lead curator will then select the funniest photo and award it a full year of free gelato at Gelateria di berna.

Experience the World of Photography
© Adrian Sonderegger
Our workshops invite children and teens to discover the world of photography in a playful way. They build knowledge and creative skills, teach basic photographic techniques, and encourage self-expression. Through experimentation, observation, and creativity, participants experience photography firsthand—and perhaps discover a new passion that will continue to inspire them long after the workshop is over.

This booklet guides kids through the exhibition and features educational, entertaining, and exciting activities centered on photography, interpreting images, and looking closely. The focus is on observing, solving puzzles, experimenting, and getting creative. This turns a visit to the exhibition into a true journey of discovery and makes photography something you don’t just look at, but actively experience.
