I am a geographer and psychologist. Photography has been part of my life since youth. This led me to study analog photography at Zurich Polytechnic Institute as part of my degree in geography. When I discovered an option to create digital over-lays, this added a new angle to my previous work: Unconscious images unfold by merging preexisting photographies, then the whole is often greater than the sum of its parts.

Yasur - Lava fountains in the South Seas Last July I visited the fire-breathing Yasur volcano on the island of Tanna in the South Pacific. It is fascinating that this stratovolcano is located directly by the sea in a tropical environment. The glow of the volcano at night under the Milky Way is breathtaking. The inhabitants at the foot of the volcano believe that it absorbs their souls after death.

My name is Eva Hauser Wyder and I completed my training at GAF (Gruppe Autodidaktischer Fotografen) in Zurich in 2007. I first worked as a baby photographer, but now I realize other projects of my own. I live on Mallorca for a third of the year and spend a lot of time photographing the natural beach landscape (Es Trenc), the sea and the old bunkers from the Franco era.

Bunkers from the Franco era stand stoically and firmly anchored on one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, surrounded by sky, sand, dunes and sea. The natural beach of Es Trenc on the Balearic Islands spreads out in gentle, otherworldly beauty. White sand with crystal-clear water that shines in all shades of blue, turquoise and emerald and its dancing waves, in an eternal rhythm - a constant becoming and passing away. A world of its own rises up in between. Bunkers, colossi of the past, also stand in the sand - ostentatious, immovable, relentless, lifeless and silent. Memorials to times gone by, witnesses to war and fear. Over the years, they have been transformed into "works of art with a message" by a collective of artists from Madrid, primed in white and painted with quotes from the Mallorcan poet Miguel Costa y Llobera. My photographs show the discrepancy between mobile and rigid, between peace/harmony and brutality/destruction in our increasingly fast-moving times. In the course of the project, the world situation has changed once again and war is no longer unimaginable. The old function of the bunkers is once again coming to the fore.

Photography has been with me since my youth. I absorbed the theory from books and magazines and put it into practice with analog cameras. Enlargements were made in the laboratory in the laundry room. After an intensive phase in medical technology, photography became more of a focus again: I concentrate on nature photography and image ideas from urban and rural areas as thematic series. The series "Immobile contemporary witnesses" documents the profound changes brought about by the construction of the expressway on the south side of the Simplon Pass in Val Divedro in the 1960s. The once magnificent buildings along the traffic axis were abandoned and have fallen into ruins. Nevertheless, they still exude a special charm today, which is particularly evident in winter when the plants surrounding them have lost their leaves and the structures of the buildings become visible. The contrast between the enduring beauty of these properties and the fleeting movement of hectic traffic inspired me to create this series.

In July 2024, Taylor Swift played two concerts at the Letzigrund in Zurich. The "Eras Tour", the most successful concert tour of all time, is a pop cultural phenomenon. Like no other, the US artist knows how to create an identification with the star and the product "Taylor Swift" among her fans. The photo series looks beyond the stage and focuses on the quieter moments of the mega-event and on the fans, who are often decked out in glitter, cowboy boots and friendship bracelets.

"Collodion Wetplate photography" The second photoprocess after the daguerreotype around 1851. I mix all the necessary liquids from raw chemicals according to 150-year-old recipes, cut the glass to the required format and prepare everything so that I can then use dissolved silver crystals to apply the self-made film to the glass plate and then expose it with 150-year-old wooden cameras. The exposure times for these shots are around 2-5 minutes. The plates are immersed, exposed, developed, stopped, fixed, washed, dried, varnished and asphalted (black background). The photograph is taken directly on the glass plate. As the chemicals used can be carcinogenic, explosive or blinding, acid gas masks, nitrile gloves and protective goggles are used. As with all alternative photo processes, no two pictures are the same, resulting in wonderfully unique pieces. Photography can make you happy.

Water is actually colorless. Only many ingredients give the water a structure and color. The decisive factors are the substrate, the depth of the water, the light, the clouds, the time of day and the beauty of nature. Light consists of several wavelengths. When it hits a water surface, some of the wavelengths are absorbed and taken up by the water. Other wavelengths are reflected. The photos are of the Clemgia river in Val S-charl. One of the last untouched river landscapes in Switzerland. My pictures illuminate only a small section of this inexhaustible spectrum of colors. The water has intensity and reflects the incredible beauty, power and dynamics of nature in colors.

I am fascinated by the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary. I prefer to approach people quietly with my camera. While traveling on different continents, I developed my own, unobtrusive style of street photography, legal and yet as expressive as possible. My scenarios are based on comics, among other things, because they can also tell a lot in just a few pictures.

For 35 years I was head of the National Reference Laboratory for Immunohematology of the SRC Blood Transfusion Service in Bern. Roberto Carbone is a photographer, quality coach and photography lecturer from Zurich. He worked as a CAS photography lecturer at the Klubschule from 2009-2023. The Scheufelen paper mill, founded in 1855, was once the first paper mill in the world to produce double-sided coated art paper by machine on a 250,000 m2 site. In 1967, Scheufelen was the first German company ever to receive an order from NASA. A non-flammable paper was to be developed and produced for the Apollo 12 mission. From 1984, the company began to decline due to rising energy costs. In February 2019, the company filed for bankruptcy. A few years later, the paper machines were sold abroad. Scheufelen not only made paper, it also coined technical terms. Stories of past eras are told, it shows the aesthetics of decay and symbolizes the transition from heyday to decay. The transience of people and buildings was my inspiration. Lost-place photography combines art, history and adventure to create a unique experience. It offers an opportunity not only to capture the aesthetics of decay, but also to keep alive the stories of places and people that would otherwise be forgotten.

"s'Bäumli" Not far from where I live, there is a bench right where it belongs: at the edge of the forest. It's a relief for tired walkers' bones. However, the view could be more impressive. The view falls on the slope of the hill opposite. One Sunday afternoon, I recognized the photographic potential of this place. A small tree on the aforementioned hill, past which a footpath leads, caught my attention. There is a lot to discover and photograph in this scenery. In addition to the original image (center), four other photographs from the series taken in February 2024 can be seen at photoSCHWEIZ 25.

Aare Gorge (Meiringen, Switzerland) The Aare Gorge is impressive with its steep rock faces. It is a popular tourist destination. Well-secured wooden walkways lead through the narrow gorge deep below, very close to the turquoise glacial river. Only a few rays of sunlight reach the water. There are spectacular views through rock formations that open up like curtains one behind the other. Their unusual play of colors and structures make them stand out from one another. Vertical lines thus become the defining pictorial element.

Patricia Reinhart Faessler is an independent visual artist, photographer, and nominated filmmaker. She is best known for her work on South of Hope Street, a theme-driven independent fiction film. In 2024, the film won four awards at the Terra di Siena International Film Festival in Italy, including Best International Film.
Beyond filmmaking, Reinhart Faessler has been actively involved in peace-building initiatives, collaborating with NGOs such as the Kofi Annan Foundation's Young Leadership Together and Peace Conversations 2018 at the Peace Palace, International Court of Justice in The Hague. As a visual artist and photographer, her work has been exhibited in Kunsträume Zermatt, Cultural Espace Barcelona, and the Franz Gertsch Museum in Switzerland, among others. She lives in Zurich with her son and works between London, Berlin, and Los Angeles. She holds a Master's in Applied Ethics from the University of Zurich, where she wrote her thesis on The Value of Art.
