Emergency Vehicle Photography - Beat Kälin
The exhibition “Blue Light Photographer Beat Kälin” presents a personal retrospective of one of the most original contemporary Swiss photographers. For over twenty years, Beat Kälin has been documenting the day-to-day operations of the police, fire department, and emergency responders—not in a sensationalist way, but with a calm eye, respect, and an unmistakable photographic style.
Kälin is less interested in the spectacular event than in what remains afterward: abandoned scenes of the incident, damaged vehicles, reflections of blue lights on wet asphalt, moments of emptiness and silence. His photographs navigate the tension between documentation and staging, between objective observation and quiet poetry. The result is powerful images of a reality that usually unfolds in the background of our society—clear, focused, and with a timeless impact.
