Joshua Amissah

Joshua Amissah (born 1995, Switzerland) is an author, curator, cultural mediator, and art consultant. In his work, he critically examines power structures in visual culture and explores questions of representation, identity, and contemporary narratives. He graduated with honors from Zurich University of the Arts. His photo book *BLACK MASCULINITIES*, published by Hatje Cantz, has received awards and been exhibited internationally.

Amissah curated “Black Art Matters” (2020), Switzerland’s largest photography exhibition to date featuring exclusively Black photographers; he was co-curator of photoSCHWEIZ (2019–2025) and co-founder of the art space bild8005. He works internationally with institutions such as documenta fifteen, VOGUE Germany, and the Schauspielhaus Zürich, and is developing GAZE CONTEMPORARY, a platform for queer and post-migrant perspectives in contemporary art.

Brutus Labiche

Brutus Labiche is a Swiss-Rwandan artist who weaves myth, memory, and materiality into a powerful and distinctive visual language. Drawing on personal experience, fashion, and imagination, she creates a visual universe that spans performance, sculpture, painting, and installation. Materials become vehicles for history, identity, and a sense of belonging.

Operating at the intersection of storytelling, myth-making, and embodied experience, Brutus Labiche draws on gestures of care, self-fashioning, and quiet vulnerability, transforming them into dreamlike reveries. Her work constructs an alternative mythology through the convergence of worlds, where Blackness merges with Swissness, giving shape to her own Afro-Swiss folklore.

© Jonathan Labusch

Jonathan Labusch

He originally aspired to a career in music. However, while pursuing a preparatory course, he made a conscious decision to abandon the academic path and instead completed an apprenticeship as a watchmaker. Over time, he realized that neither music nor watchmaking fully fulfilled him. It was only through photography that he found his means of expression—since 2018, it has consistently been at the center of his creative work.

Under the title “Here Or There?,” he explores the inner urge to leave Switzerland and seek new perspectives. Much of what has shaped him, he currently finds unsettling. In the coming years, he will travel extensively and take photographs around the world. His work juxtaposes pairs of images that reveal Swiss culture and its contrasts when viewed from abroad—a photographic exploration of origin, distance, and identity.
